Re-opening your business in the Okanagan

The past nine weeks have been a change to the every day. For myself, my days used to be filled

meeting up with people and talking about our business or about their business.

Since the state of emergency for the province, like for most of you, things have changed. I’m still talking to people about their business and learning new things but it’s just in a different way. Staying connected while maintaining physical distance has been a learning curve for many. One area that has helped businesses stay connected has been through Zoom meetings. For weeks I have participated in the Covid-19 Update Coffee Hour hosted by Community Futures South Okanagan Similkameen. I get a chance to talk with local businesses and politicians to see what resources are available and get the most up-to-date information to better serve our clients.

The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce has also been a valuable resource. HEK Yeah Media hosted a webinar on social media communications as well as getting a chance to co-host the ReThink ReOpen ReBound virtual business fireside talk (see video of this meeting below or click here). This was an opportunity to learn from those businesses who have navigated their way through the new normal and work with each other as businesses get ready to return back to work. It was also an opportunity to learn more about the Love Local campaign (#LoveLocalPenticton) which will draw strength from our community to generate support for small business and all things local.

Businesses will see many changes on how they operate, but one thing that won’t change is their need to communicate — not just with their employees but with the public as well. Finding the right resources in our community will help your business grow and succeed.
