They did it again.
Masters of the Hole kept their Slackwater Brewing Cornhole championship. They continue their dominance of the league, sponsored by HEK Yeah Media, thanks to a 21-16 victory over Game of Throws.
They led 16-0, but watched as Game of Throws, led by Kevin and his 10-point pipe shot, clawed their way back.
“Tough game though, he (Kevin) sunk a 10-pointer (over the pipe and into the hole),” says Jason. “That was good.”
“That kind of came out of nowhere,” says Clint. “Pulled a rabbit right out his @$$, (they laugh).”
Out of desperation and seeking a quick way to get back in, Kevin decided to take some risks with the difficult shot.
“It’s an underutilized aspect of the game,” says Kevin. “If you’re down on the board, if you’re down by points, try it. I have seen it more than one time.”
Kristi of Game of Throws gave her teammate credit for a miraculous effort.
“His pipe shot was something else.”
In season three, Game of Throws, aims to be among the top teams, while Kristi wants to win a free pitcher of beer.
With their second title in the bag, Masters of the Hole are eyeing a three-peat.
“Going for the hat-trick,” says Jason.
Clint added they wanted to go undefeated in the third season.
Week two action saw Masters of the Hole beat Mandrea 20-3. They put a dagger into Mandrea with an eight-point score.
Masters of the Hole found themselves in the final following wins over Team A-Maze-Ing (21-12), Team A-Maze-Ing B (21-8) and a rematch with Team A-Maze-Ing (21-18). Mandrea reached the final with a 21-13 victory over We So Corny, Why Not (22-19) in a comeback and 21-9 over We So Corny.
